30 Days TV Series Challenge, days 16-22

We continue the TV series challenge, which I’m doing in weekly batches because I would completely forget to do them as a daily thing. Here are Part 1 and Part 2!

16. Which series do you watch when you are not feeling well?

Anything that will cheer me up. Chuck is good for this, because it’s delightful. The good seasons of The Flying Doctors are also definitely comfort telly, or a costume drama.

17. What is your favourite German series?

Admittedly, I haven’t watched that many, but I heart Babylon Berlin and particularly enjoyed the third season.

18. What is your favourite mini-series (max. 8 episodes)?

Hm, well, there’s North & South (2004), Pride & Prejudice (1995), Jane Eyre (2006) … Anything that’s an adaptation of a book from the 1800s, really? Then there’s Good Omens, and The Out-Laws. Alias Grace was good too.

19. Which character death moved you the most?

The untimely demise of Dr David Ratcliffe on The Flying Doctors still pisses me off to this day. Moving? Maybe not as much? While his demise was perhaps inevitable, Richard Harrow (Boardwalk Empire) was still a gut punch in the way no other character death on that show was.

20. Which scene from a series made the biggest impression on you?

Difficult to say what made the biggest impression out of everything exactly, but if we’re going for memorable scenes, Benjamin confronting Midge in that diner in the season three finale of The Marvellous Mrs Maisel is a strong contender. #TeamBenjamin

21. Do you watch a series that is based on a comic, book, film, computer game or something similar? Which?

Yes, and several of them have been mentioned already in previous answers to questions. I could also add stuff like The Boys, The Umbrella Academy, any of the DC or Marvel series …

22. What is your favourite male or female character?

I mean … you’re gonna have to narrow it down a bit? I don’t think I have a favourite of all time all categories, because I tend to have favourites per show. Sometimes, if it’s set in multiple locations or such, I may have favourites based on that. Like if you look at Downton Abbey, I’d have my upstairs favourites (Sybil, and later Edith) and downstairs (Mr Bates and Anna, Daisy). For a multi-location show like Boardwalk Empire, it’s Margaret Schroeder, Richard Harrow and Eddie Kessler in Atlantic City, and Ralph Capone and Al Capone in Chicago. Although I would pick Al Capone and Richard Harrow as overall favourites – see? I can’t pick just the one anywhere!

Next Sunday we get the final eight questions. See you then!

Traxy

An easily distracted and over-excited introvert who never learns to go to bed at a reasonable time. Enjoys traveling (when there's not a plague on), and taking photos of European architecture. Cares for cats, good coffee and Boardwalk Empire. A child of her time, she did media studies in school and still can't decide what she wants to be when she grows up.

  1. I’m with you on the miniseries. And also on David Ratcliffe- I was so shocked at his death! I re-watched that episode again for the first time in eons and eons (was too traumatized to do it sooner) and it still brought tears to my eyes.

    1. There have been other character deaths (a pilot died in s1 or something like that?), but I didn’t know that at the time, so it came as a complete shock. One of the main cast dying?! But but but …!

      1. I wasn’t too much of a David fan when he first came in and then he really grew on me and just when I liked him most, they did this! It was unforgiveable…
